I
started my career in purebred dogs in 1966 after purchasing my first AKC
registered dog - A Boxer. My boxers garnered many wins over
the years including Grand Prize Futurity winners, Most Puppy Blue’s
awards, and 1st class placements consistently each year at the Nationals
and Regional Specialties.
In 1986 I decided to
choose a smaller breed as my boxers were becoming too much of a handful
for my elderly parents (who were living with me). It was a very hard
decision to make because I wanted a small dog that had the attributes
that I loved so much in my “boxers”. The breed I chose was the Brussels
Griffon – an intelligent, alert, energetic, fearless, loyal and
affectionate companion.

In 1994 my breeding program produced
BIS/BISS
Ch. Donandru’s Benjamin Bunny, who
became the winner of two National Specialties and one Regional Specialty
and is an All-Breed BIS winner. To date, Benjamin has produced 10
Champion get with three more pointed to date. I am proud to say his
photo was chosen by the American Kennel Club to represent the Breed in
their most recent issue of “AKC’s Complete Dog Book” and also “The
Complete AKC Dog Book for Kids”.
Benjamin’s granddaughter,
Ch. Bobcat Ruby B’Gonia
V. Donandru was the No. l bitch for
2004, the winner of the National Specialty 2004, and was chosen as the
Pedigree Award Winner for 2004. Ruby was bred by myself and Pam
Waldron. Ruby’s Sire (a Benjamin Bunny Son) is
Am., Can., Int. Ch. Donandru’s Mr. McGregor O’Sunita, who was specialed in 2001 finishing
nationally ranked #5. To date, McGregor has 9 Champion get.
My interest over the years in Pugs also has led me
to breed and special a few top pugs. This
past year Ch Mystic Celestial SkyRaider "Bailey" was
the “Star” of both myself and my partner in
Pugs,
Mr. Jason Huff.
I have also bred and
exhibited (on a very limited basis) Boston Terriers, Tibetan Spaniels,
French Bulldogs, and Maltese.
To date I have bred
or co/bred over 17 champions (5 more pointed). Pam (ENDOR) coming from
the West and myself (DONANDRU) from the East, joined forces eight years
ago to breed and exhibit quality Brussels Griffons – I believe we have
attained our goal, and we are both very proud of all that we have
accomplished.
